Good governance emerged as a powerful idea in the today’s progressive global community. Prominent international agencies like World Bank, UNDP, OECD, ADB, etc. have realized that it is a citizen-friendly, citizen-caring, accountable and responsive administration. A transparent administration following the practices and principles of Rule of Law is an epitome of Good Governance. In absence of good governance, no development schemes can bring any improvement in the quality life of the citizens. If the power is concentrated or if it is exercised in improper or arbitrary ways then the poor will suffer the most, as poor governance generates corruption, poverty and other socio-economic evils. The concept of good governance plays a vital role in assessing the modern governance mechanism. Many countries including India have devised a Good Governance Index for the same purpose. CGGPR aims to conduct intensive deliberations and research to promote and diffuse the idea of good governance across various levels of governance. The Centre also aims to work closely with policy-makers like Ministers, senior officials, institutions and other stakeholders, with the purpose of building and nurturing citizen-centric governance practices.
