There are some key documents that you need to upload as per admission process and that are needed to finalize your admission. You will use the admission form to securely upload a copy of your passport, demonstrate that you have adequate financial resources to enroll in your degree program, qualifying exam mark sheets and certificates/ degrees, update your mailing address, and inform us about any dependent family members who may be coming with you to Bhopal.

To comply with Indian Laws, the JLU requires all international students to provide evidence of adequate financial resources. These resources must be sufficient to cover the costs of attendance, including living expenses, for the minimum expected duration of your degree program. You will be asked to upload financial documents with your Admission documents required.

India has several requirements for obtaining a student visa however they do not require proof of insurance for a student visa. International students should still purchase health insurance, however to protect them in case something happens. India requires visas for the nationals of most countries, with the exceptions of Bhutan, Maldives, and Nepal. Requirements specific to student visas are listed below, and there are no India visa insurance requirements, although purchasing insurance is strongly recommended by JLU.

International students studying in India receive a multiple-entry visa for the period of study. Students admitted to study in an Indian institution need to provide a letter from their host institution ( in this case from Jagran Lakecity University) to secure a student visa. If you are applying for a tourist visa, it is important to note that the length of the visa starts from the day it is issued, not from the date of entry to India. For students not yet accepted to a school in India, a three-month provisional visa is available. In this case a letter from the host institution confirming that the student has applied is necessary to obtain a provisional visa.

It is important to note that Indian visas must be obtained prior to arrival in the country. Airlines will not let you check in without displaying one.

Visa Requirements
In addition to the fees discussed above, your passport must be valid for at least 6 more months and contain at least two blank pages, including a visa page. Additionally, you need to submit:

  • Two passport-size photographs
  • Completed visa application form
  • Letter from your host institution indicating that you have been admitted (or, in the case of the provisional visa, that you have applied)
  • Proof of financial support adequate to cover your tuition and stay in India

Accommodation plays an important part in building a solid foundation for academic success.

Students benefit from the advantages that come from choosing to study in a city where accommodation of all types, including our University-managed accommodation as well as campus hostel accommodation, is not only accessible but also more affordable than in many Indian cities.

Students unfamiliar with Bhopal are encouraged to consider living in managed student accommodation at campus at least during their first two year of university.

Managed student accommodation provides new students with the opportunity to become better acquainted with the city, settle into their academic program and make new friends, experience the buzz and comfort of secured campus environment without having to worry about the challenges of the private rental market.

Long-term student accommodation
The University assists international students to obtain suitable longer-term housing preferably at campus student residential blocks.

Commercial student accommodation
Commercial student accommodation refers to off-campus student accommodation facilities, run by private management companies not affiliated with Jagran Lakecity University. These facilities offer fully-furnished/partially furnished, self-contained apartments that give students flexibility to live alone or share with others. There are also rooms for couples.

In addition to rent, students may need to budget for additional expenses, including:

  • Gas
  • Electricity
  • Telephone connection (optional)
  • Internet connection (optional).

Places in commercial student accommodation facilities are offered on a 6 or 12-month fixed-term lease. It’s important to note that these facilities are not directly affiliated with Jagran Lakecity University and students are advised to inspect them before committing.

Private rental and share accommodation
Affordable share accommodation can also be found in the private rental market, so the University offers a rental database (jlu.edu.in/accommodation) for our students’ exclusive use. Our enrolled students can access the database from our student

Students are discouraged from sending money from offshore to secure share or rental accommodation prior to inspecting it.

Accommodation for families Students accompanied by family members will find private rental accommodation in houses or apartments the most suitable accommodation option.

It’s easier for an individual student to initially travel to Bhopal on his or her own to arrange suitable permanent family accommodation. Spouses and children who arrive later can then move straight in.

Arrival reception and campus accommodation Campus accommodation are available to commencing international students. Eligible students can book an arrival reception service and be met by a University representative at Bhopal Airport, via a domestic or international flight. Students will then be transported to their accommodation.
