Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav

Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal on 12th March 2021 inaugurated ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ event to mark the beginning of nationwide celebrations of the 75th anniversary of India's independence in a big way like a festival amidst peace and harmony. The session of the event lasted for 25 days from 12 March to 5 April, the dates associated with the beginning and end of the 1930 Dandi March, a civil disobedience campaign led by Mahatma Gandhi.

This festival was monitored by University Grants Commission (UGC), oversee the organisation of one-hour conferences, seminars or symposia at schools, colleges and universities across the country on 12 March.

Jagran Lakecity University is continuously organizing Azadi Ka Mahotsav Sessions since March 2021. All faculties of JLU are proactively involved in this initiative under the expert guidance of our Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sandeep Shastri Ji.

SESSION 1 – 12th March 2021

JLU organised the Amrut Mahotsav with a Symposium Programmes on the Goto webinar Platform in line with “renaissance the immortal saga of the freedom struggle exists and that are lost in the time of history”. The two hour event reflected on the struggle of independence which was a long and toilsome journey for our forefathers.

The topic was “India’s freedom struggle”

The Eminent Speakers at the event were, Prof . N. Radhakrishnan (Doctorate in Gandhian philosophy, Non-violence activist and an educator), along with Prof. Dr. Anoop Swarup, (Chairman, Centre for Global Nonkilling at Centre for Global Nonkilling, and Founding Chairman, Global Knowledge Alliance )

Prof . N. Radhakrishnan shared his thoughts by emphasising the importance on the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family ) and how we can promote the global value in our young minds. On this occasion he remembered the scarifies of founding fathers and youth for the great freedom movement.

Dr. Swarup in his address said, “India is a head of many countries in terms of properties, intelligentsia. There is so much which can be contributed by India.” He mentioned about unprecedented situation that arose due to the pandemic, but it is India providing free vaccine to 100 counties around the world. He mentioned about the “covert war” which has created so much confusion in the mind of intelligentsia this is war India is facing. This is time to retrospect for the great future of India.

Dr. Sandeep Shastri (Vice Chancellor of the Jagran Lakecity University) also graced the event with his presence. Former, Dean Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Yogendra Srivastava gave a vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the attendees.

-Writing Competition by JLU Student Service Cell

The struggle for independence was a long and toilsome journey for our forefathers. In this struggle, the skill of writing was used as a huge enabler for the thoughts and ideas of freedom. It served as a huge tool for the upliftment of the spirits of the oppressed Indian society. Thus, JLU Student Service Cell is commemorated the occasion by launching essay writing competition and invited all students to participate in this contest and express their thoughts in words. The completion was to value that revolutionary artistic ability and also awarded the winners with attractive E-vouchers and certificates.

SESSION 2 – 14th April 2021

Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Session 2 was conducted on 14th April 2021.

The theme was ‘A series of Dialogues Celebrating the Indian Constitution’

Chief Guest was Hon’ble. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India And Former Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission.

SESSION 3 – 12th June 2021

Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Session 3 was conducted on 12th June 2021.

The theme was ‘Women and the Indian Constitution’

Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker was Prof.(Dr.) Ved Kumari, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Odisha.

SESSION 4 – 13th June 2021

Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Session 4 was conducted on 13th June 2021.

The theme was ‘Federalism and the Indian Constitution’

SESSION 5 – 17th June 2021

As we progressed forward with Session 05 of 'Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav', The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Humanities welcomed all to traverse on a journey to explore Freedom in variant shades and meanings.

This session featured the students of Faculty of Liberal Arts and Humanities as they came together to celebrate the very essence of freedom in the form of a special AV that tries at its heart to capture the struggle and strife of the nation; for independence is not a destination, it’s a journey! Spanning around nine minutes, the video also featured the recollections of Smt. Nirmala Shukla, grandmother of Shambhavi Shukla (a student at JSoHSS) as she shares the memories of 15th August 1947!

SESSION 6 – 10th July 2021

Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Session 6 was conducted on 10th July 2021.

The theme was ‘Journey of Hospitality and Tourism, Post-Independence’

Description of Competition :

Participants need to prepare a Traditional Indian Dish and plate it with proper presentation and accompaniments. Then they need to explain the ingredients of dish, its historical and cultural importance. The style of presenting the prepared dish must be story telling.

SESSION 7 – 16th July 2021

“Science and Technology hold the key to the progress and development of any nation”. In the same line of thought, JLU-School of Engineering and Technology witnessed Session-7 of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence. The event was held in online mode on 16th July 2021.

The event formally began with inaugural ceremony. To grace the occasion, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JLU Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Shastri, Respected Registrar & Dean- Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, JLU Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Khare, Jury members for the Inter-school Debate Competition Dr. Mamta Agrawal Senior Assistant Professor VIT Bhopal and Mr. Ashish Nagarkar, Associate General Manager at Viatris Pharma, Nashik, Maharashtra were present. Dr. Dileep Kumar Singh, Head, JLU-School of Engineering and Technology formally welcomed all the dignitaries.

The event proceeded with a keynote address of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JLU Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Shastri on the theme "Science, Technology and Nation Building". He mentioned that technology plays a fundamental role in wealth creation, improvement of the quality of life, real economic growth and transformation in any society. He further added that Science and technology education will not only prepare the youths of country, for fulfilling career prospects, but also train their minds to address social problems with scientific mind.

The keynote address was followed by an Inter-School Debate Competition held for all schools of JLU. Various interesting topics like “Do laws effectively keep up with changes in technology?”, “Has technology helped in spreading education in remote areas of India even after 75 years of independence?” and “Where has information technology taken us in 75 years of independence?” were given to the participants for debate.

All the participants of the debate competition presented their thoughts in an impressive manner. They were also given the opportunity of cross questioning. The first position was secured jointly by Muskan Vari, student of JLU-School of Commerce and Economics and Milan Tiwari, student of JLU-School of Engineering and technology. Shraddhank Pandit, student of JLU-School of Hospitality and Tourism secured the second position while third position was secured by Ishika Patidar, student of JLU-School of Law. In the valedictory session, Dr. Dileep Kumar Singh, Head, JLU-School of Engineering and Technology congratulated to all the winners and participants for their active participation in the event. Overall the program ended by creating a significant impact on the participants and they enjoyed the debate competition thoroughly.
