Min Qualification Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) qualification or an equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognized board. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) introduced for admission into all UG Programmes, 60% in qualifying exam JLUET followed by personal interview.
Class Description
The aim of the BA English Literature (Hons) Programme is to instill a comprehensive understanding and a humanistic approach to different people, cultures, and global issues through the study of the various forms and genres in English literature. Options include poetry, Shakespeare, and his contemporaries, American Literature and Creative Writing, World Literature, etc. Learners will also have plenty of opportunities to develop their own critical or creative voice, with a final dissertation choice of an extended essay on their preferred subject. The undergraduate programme has been designed with a deliberate focus on the dynamic needs of the contemporary world. The key emphasis is on enabling learners to acquire employability skills while engaging with the content.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the three-year education, learners will be able to
- engage in close reading: interpret textual details and ambiguities, employing a vocabulary of literary terms, theories, and/or critical methods.
- Construct knowledge of the discipline by examining a range of literature in different genres across different historical periods
- nurture the spirit of creativity and innovative thinking among the learners
- express their own ideas as informed opinions in a variety of critical and theoretical approaches.
- Invest in personal growth and be a lifelong learner
