JLU Voice for Research Excellence Series

“Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”- Vince Lombardi. Therefore to make best in research, Jagran Lakecity University Research Cell brought together the JLU Voice for Research Excellence Series. The objective was to create a platform where great minds across the globe can share their insights and experiences in research. The first session was on the topic: “Basics of Academic Research”, and was conducted on October 27th and 28th, 2020.

The first session was on the topic: “Basics of Academic Research”, and was conducted on October 27th and 28th, 2020.

During the session, Prof.(Dr.) Dileep Kumar M, Director – Research and Innovation & Professor Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Organizational Behaviour, Malaysia interacted with research scholars. He focused the conversations on the new research trends coming to follow a line of investigation, further the need to develop the analytical mind in research. Prof. Dileep also spoke about the fundamentals of academic research. He mentioned that today, one should not initiate any research work unless being fully aware about the research gap. Further, he talked about the diverse aspects to identify the exploration areas and giving direction to the research work.

In the second part of the session, he laid emphasis on research paper writing and how one can evaluate the quality of the research journals. Further, he gave insights about the predatory journals which are very important to safeguard the research study for the researchers.

At the end, Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Joshi – Director Research, Jagran Lakecity University, assured that such online workshops will be organized continuously. This will give uninterrupted benefit of the academic activities across the university i.e.to the students, researchers and teachers. In addition to this, he also mentioned about how, with various such sessions, JLU’s Research Cell is working towards the mission to create awareness and opportunities in research oriented activities amongst the students and faculty members.

Workshop II - Jan 2020

‘Ethics and equity and the principles of justice do not change with the calendar’ – D. H. Lawrence.

To make this statement true Jagran Lakecity University’s Research Cell organized the JLU Voice for Research Excellence Series – II. It revolved around the “Responsible Professional Practices in a Changing Research Environment: Teaching Research Ethics”.

Jagran Lakecity University’s Research Cell organized the JLU Voice for Research Excellence Series – II.

The workshop was organized on 16th January 2021. Also, the second session of the JLU Voice For Research Excellence Series was taken by Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Vice-Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal. Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Khare, Registrar, Jagran Lakecity University also graced the occasion with his presence.

In his interaction, Dr. Shastri laid emphasis on ethics in research, Plagiarism, Paraphrasing and many such aspects of the topic. In addition to this, in his interface, he also laid emphasis on academic writing. Additionally, He focused on how to deal with plagiarism and therefore, reemphasized on the topic – Ethics and equity and the principles of justice do not change with the calendar. Dr. Shastri gave multiple real life examples so that the scholars can visualize and understand better. Therefore, the whole session were extremely interactive and inspiring as well.

In the concluding session, Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Khare, Registrar mentioned about the policies of the university and how they are in the favour of encouraging scholars to follow ethical conduct during their research. He also mentioned that the policies are defined and implemented to support the scholars as they are the heart and soul for our university. Further he said that the university is on our way to achieving our vision that to create awareness and opportunities in research-oriented activities amongst the students and faculty members.

To add to this, Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Joshi – Director Research, Jagran Lakecity University, proposes the vote of thanks and said that such the online workshop will be organized continuously so that the students, researchers and teachers will get the jam-packed benefit of the academic activities across the university.

Workshop III - Jan 2020

To continue the legacy of excellence in research, Jagran Lakecity University Research Cell organized JLU Voice for Research Excellence Series III. It was held on January 30, 2021. The topic for the series was “Issues in Predatory Publishing – How Can Researcher’s lead the Way?”

Dr. Sumit Narula, Director, Amity School of Communication was the keynote speaker for the Research Excellence Series III. He gave many insights on cloned, faked, and predatory journals operated globally. He also discussed DOI, orchid I’d, COP, DOAJ Stamp, CLOCKSS and Retraction watch to give proper understand on the process. These are the ways in which researcher can sight their research work. He also discussed plagiarism, citation, the process of checking the journals. A more detailed conversation on Research Work Ethics was done in the second workshop where Dr, Sandeep Shastri, VC, JLU Bhopal took the session. However, in this session, Dr. Sandeep Shastri shared their views on various aspects of Predatory Journals and enlighten the participants

During his conversation, Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Joshi – Director Research & IQAC, Jagran Lakecity University, stated that such the online workshop will be organized continuously at the university. The students, researchers will get the jam-packed benefit of the academic activities across the university with these sessions.

Workshop VI - April 2020

“Ways and Means of Writing a Research Proposal” – April 24th, 2021

On the occasion of 8th foundation day of Jagran Lakecity University, JLU Research Cell organized a virtual workshop on the topic “Ways and Means of Writing a Research Proposal”. It was a pleasure to have Subject Expert, Prof. Dileep Kumar M, Director – Research and Innovation & Professor Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Organizational Behaviour, Malaysia. Sharing his treasure chest of knowledge on how to make a road map to creating a research proposal of international standards; in his interactions he spoke about various aspects of proposal writing that can help scholars to get acceptance by renowned institutes globally. Amongst the information Prof. Dileep stated that “Research” as, “The Journey from the Belief to the Truth is called as Research”, which research scholars should have in their respective research arena.
In the concluding session, Prof. Dileep answered the queries raised by the participants in connection with their own research and requested Jagran Lakecity University Research Cell for organizing more workshops in the future.
