Jagran School of Design
We are living in a moment of rapid transformation. We have to be constantly defining new boundaries and we will need to design for a different world to what we have known. We need to incorporate new skills to work in a hyperlocal world that is hyper connected.
The mission of Jagran School of Design, is to educate its students and the public in the creation and appreciation of works of art and design, to discover and transmit knowledge and to make lasting contributions to a global society through critical thinking, scholarship and innovation.
Design pervades every sector, product or service, in terms of content, languages, technical and functional aspects. From interiors to urban furnishings, from transport to light, from objects to innovation and research, there are innumerable sectors that require the commitment of who knows how to design not only for people but with people; who, by definition, is an inventor of forms and functions, interpreter and pioneer of the emerging aesthetic lines and functional needs of present time.
Creativity is a daily task at Jagran School of Design
The project-based approach applied at the school promotes cooperative learning and encourages students to get in touch with professionals and companies. Throughout the year they are engaged in different projects – either intensive one-week workshops or studio experiences lasting the whole semester – allowing them to acquire a global vision of the profession, round off their design thinking and build solid skills. The tutors review each student on a weekly basis at least to allow a constant improvement of the proposals. Class critique is also encouraged to build stronger awareness of the pros and cons of each design. The close collaboration with professionals, brands and institutions enables the students to get ready for a dynamic relationship with the client.
Jagran School of Design strives to increase awareness in the design arenas through education and professional opportunities, network-building with alumni and industry representatives, and showcasing the creative talent and artistic diversity within & outside the JLU community.

Jagran School of Design encourages students to actively engage their world and define their role as contributing designers by developing their critical and analytical skills, personal voice, and visual language. The school cultivates a sense of social responsibility and inquiry in student designers, who will be working at the intersection of art, design, and mass culture. The school works around the core student driven actions of Design Hive, the design community of the school.
Jagran School of Design graduates know how to respond to this global market demand. They can design, but also become entrepreneurs of their own ideas because they have developed design culture and industrial culture, expressive skills and technological knowledge.
